Skin and the Idea of Beauty are Deeply Pesonal

Skin with healthy circulation. Skin with strong barrier function. Skin with good muscle tone. Skin that glows because it’s functioning well—not because it has been filtered into perfection. I’m expressive. I laugh with my whole face. I smile with my eyes. My face tells the story of my life, and that’s something I want to keep. I don’t mind that I’ve laughed. I don’t mind that I have freckles—even if I know they’re technically sun damage. I don’t want to erase every bit of character that makes me recognizable to myself. To me, well-cared-for skin is incredibly elegant. It looks like someone who has lived a beautiful life and continues to care for themselves along the way.
