Quick tips and answers to commonly asked questions

Girl eyes closed

General Information

  • Float therapy (also known as sensory deprivation or REST—Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy) involves floating effortlessly in a warm, shallow pool of water saturated with Epsom salt. The experience can be completely private, soundproof, and light-free, allowing your body and mind to enter a deeply relaxed state. You may also choose to leave the lights on and compliment your experience with music.

  • Float therapy can help:

    • Relieve stress and anxiety

    • Improve sleep quality

    • Soothe muscle soreness and joint pain

    • Boost creativity and mental clarity

    • Support athletic recovery

    • Reduce inflammation and chronic pain

    • Increase feelings of happiness and calm

  • Each session is 60 minutes, though some guests feel the benefits with as little as 30 minutes, while others enjoy extended sessions of up to 90 minutes or more.

  • Nothing but yourself! We provide everything you need—towels, earplugs, toiletries, and a private shower in each float suite. You can float au naturale (it’s your private room), so no swimsuit is necessary unless you prefer one.

  • Yes, very. Our float tanks are cleaned and filtered multiple times between each guest using UV light, micron filtration, and hydrogen peroxide. The high concentration of Epsom salt also creates an environment that naturally inhibits bacteria.

First-Time Floaters

  • Our floats are in Wave Rooms, not float pods. Stepping into a Wave Room is essentially the same as stepping into a large shower with a swinging door, which makes it more approachable for people who might be uncomfortable in tight spaces. Most people are surprised by how spacious the float room feels. If you’re nervous, you can float with the door open, light on, or music playing—we’ll help you customize your comfort level.

  • That’s completely normal—and safe! Many people fall into a meditative sleep during their session. The high salt concentration keeps your body naturally buoyant and safe.

  • Yes—many pregnant women find relief from pressure and pain while floating. We recommend checking with your doctor first, especially during your first trimester.

  • Avoid caffeine for a few hours beforehand. Eat a light meal an hour before your appointment. Try not to shave or wax the same day, as the salt can irritate sensitive skin.

  • Please wait at least 7–10 days after hair coloring or spray tanning to ensure no residue contaminates the float tank. If your hair dye or tan is still bleeding color, please wait until it no longer does.

  • It's best to wait until your tattoo is fully healed, typically 2–4 weeks, before floating. The high salt content can cause discomfort and affect the healing process.
